Sam was a routine man and since high school he was a creature of habit. He lived in San Francisco. He took the same train to be a manager at a mall store. Trains are surprisingly dead quiet. He would have his ear phones in. A woman named Jane would also take the train to work to go to a Bank of America near Sam's work . Sam and Jane didn't recognize each other due to their individual busy lives. But March 6th, 2032, they "met".
Jane: I see you a lot don't I.
Sam: I'd supposed so.
Jane: I've notice you're routine. I mean I've seen you sit in the same seat and drink the same Starbucks coffee exactly at 8:13am.
Sam: It's actually at 8:12 but that's an honest mistake.
The next day Sam was on the train Jane didn't speak to him. He wasn't the most enthusiastic to speak. Things went on like this for another two weeks. Then Sam found an anonymous date on a dating sight. They talked casually. They enjoyed talking to each other so much. Sam and Jane were on their phone talking to each other's anonymous crush on the bus. When Jane told Sam's dating profile her name, Sam stopped replying. Jane was mad for 2 days. Then ranted to Sam for 3 days on the bus about how people on dating sites are jerks and how she was confused as to why this person would stop replying so abruptly. The following week Sam sat in Jane's seat. He got a friend to sit in his. Then the friend got off at Jane's stop. Jane sat in his. They started talking on the bus. Then swapped contact info. Every morning Sam would sit in a spot where he could talk to Jane. They were a classic pair of love birds. But one day Jane found out she was pregnant. Immediately afterwards, Sam asked the company he worked for to transfer to its head quarters in LA. Jane became a single mother. Eight years later, she saw Sam on the train again. She wanted to say so much but nothing could be said because when she worked up the nerve to sit near him and tell him how she really felt, silence fell over the train. Jane's son and daughter, twins, learned that their mom died on a train crash.
